A little history...
In 1980 Scott Essary and Dave Anderson started their careers as carpenters at Scott's parents' San Jose construction company, Young America Builders. They worked at the family business until its doors closed in 1990. At its peak the company employed 300 carpenters and provided commercial and residential construction services. In the late 1970's Dave studied architecture which led the company to build twelve spec homes in Hollister, all of which Dave designed. Both men gained significant construction knowledge and field skills through the decade and more importantly, the skills needed to create and sustain their own business.
In 1994, after a four year stint at another company, the team started their own business in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, giving way to the name Willow Glen Construction. The family business values and commitment to client relationships that were fostered at Young America Builders carry on at WG Construction. WG Construction field crews and office staff strive for excellence in all aspects of the business. Everyone collectively takes pride in the quality workmanship we provide to satisfy our clients.
Persis McGinn joined WGC in 2009 and is responsible for marketing and business development. Her 16-year background in property and project management enables her to relate WGC to the issues that concern brokers, property managers, and prospective clients. She is an active member of BOMA, CRW, Morgan Hill Women in Business, Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce, Milpitas Chamber of Commerce (on Board of Directors), B2B Professionals, and USGBC. Persis is a LEED® AP. LEED® = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Accredited Professional.
Dana Schockmel has been with WGC since 2007. She is the office manager, A/R, A/P, payroll, and contract administrator. Her 9 year administrative background working for Apple Computer as well as working in the insurance industry enables her to muti-task in our busy general contractor environment.
